This year’s MAN Trucknology Days, an in-house exhibition that was launched in 2008 and has since become a fixed date on the trade fair calendar, was once again held at the MAN Truck & Bus testing ground in Munich.
Between 23 and 25 March, more than 7,000 invited guests from all over Europe took the opportunity, under glorious sunshine, to view and, in some cases, try out for themselves the latest trucks from the quality brand that is MAN in a diverse range of industry applications.

More than 90 exhibitors showcased their industry solutions from a range of fields including construction, distribution and long-haul transport, municipal applications and heavy-goods transport, and they invited the trade visitors to talks and discussions in the MAN TruckForum and on the test track.
In addition, this year’s Trucknology Days also saw the unveiling of the new MAN TGE. The transporter, which has a permissible total weight of between 3.0 and 5.5 tonnes, rounds off the MAN product programme at the lower end.

PALFINGER EPSILON: a strong partner in forestry and agriculture

EPSILON was this year once again strongly represented at the Trucknology Days in the forestry and agricultural sector.
Of the six exhibited vehicles for short wood haulage and chippers, five were equipped with power cranes from PALFINGER EPSILON. In addition, the German PALFINGER organisation headed by Thomas Nussbaumer had its own information stand for the construction industry and public authorities.

In the forestry sector, trade visitors operating in the timber haulage industry had the opportunity to marvel at three different EPSILON short wood assemblies and two chipper solutions as well as experience a selection of this machinery in action.
This included MAN’s own demo truck (MAN TGS 26.500 with EPSILON M12Z83 with Master Drive and single telescopic extension boom), which demonstrated the loading and unloading of short lengths of wood, and two new wood truck bodies from the German installation partners “Doll” and “Kaffl”.

Transport company Kleinheinz offers an insight into timber loading

This year’s event was attended by Mr Chrisitan Kleinheinz, the managing director of Kleinheinz Transport und Logistik e. K., who offered his own personal insight into short wood loading. With his many years of experience in the timber industry, he was certainly best qualified to showcase the performance of the EPSILON crane on the testing ground for the benefit of the numerous guests and talk about his wide-ranging practical experience in the industry.
The transport company, which was founded in 1950, has been a loyal EPSILON customer for many years now. The company currently employees 30 experienced employees and operates a fleet of 17 specialist vehicles (all equipped with EPSILON loader cranes), with which they transport a wide variety of logs ranging in length from two to six metres.

Eschlböck and JENZ present their chipper vehicles

For chipper applications, the long-standing Austrian company Eschlböck and the German chipper manufacturer JENZ each showcased a selection of their own vehicles complete with EPSILON additions.
While Eschlböck presented its Bieber 84, which has a feed width of 122 cm (suitable for tree trunks with a diameter of up to 60 cm) and is equipped with the powerful EPSILON Q130LD, JENZ presented its HEM 583 R-Truck (suitable for wood trunks of up to 56 cm), which is equipped with the slightly more lightweight EPSILON M100LD from the Epsolution series, a high-performance alternative to a tractor with power take-off chipper.

In both vehicles, the loader crane is controlled directly from the truck chipper cab, which means that the operator can start the process of chopping the timber as soon as they arrive at the scene without having to leave the cab.
The guests were fascinated to see how, in just one day, each chipper processed an entire container to create perfectly formed wood chips, which were then transported from the site for further use.

MAN Trucknology Days – a must for any fleet operator

With more than 7,000 guests, this year’s Trucknology Days were once again a huge success.
Guests had the chance not only to take part in some fascinating discussions organised by the TruckForum, but also go on a thrilling tour of the state-of-the-art MAN factory in Munich. One particular highlight for the guests was the rare opportunity to experience live a variety of demonstrations on the MAN testing ground and to take a range of models from the MAN product catalogue for a spin on the test track.
