Every year, on 25 April, International Tree Day is celebrated to highlight the importance of forests and wood for nature and humanity. To help us enjoy our tree-lined roads, the trees in our parks and residential areas and our woodland and forests in all their natural splendour, companies such as Kettwiger Baumdienst Skibba GmbH are indispensable – after all, healthy and beautiful trees need professional maintenance.

This Essen-based family-run company, which was founded in 1985, is among the best tree care providers in the region. Within a radius of 100 km in the Ruhr area, this reliable and hard-working company carries out all kinds of tree maintenance work in urban areas (public parks, nurseries, hospitals etc.), non-urban areas (country roads, motorways etc.) and in woodland and forests. Special equipment is needed to help the company meet the challenges it faces every day. Operating a fleet of more than 100 items of machinery and equipment including small trailers for vans and delivery vehicles, a range of low-loading semi-trailers, excavators and semi-trailer tractors, Kettwiger Baumdienst Skibba GmbH is always ready for action.

The family-run company also operates three EPSILON Q-series timber loader cranes for on-road assignments and one S110F for off-road assignments.
'Since we already use a number of EPSILON models here in our company, we decided to purchase another PALFINGER EPSILON crane because we have been so impressed with the usability, durability and service of the EPSILON cranes,' says Managing Director Fabian Skibba.

It is for precisely these reasons, too, that the Q130ZD – which is mounted on the remote-controlled truck – is the perfect solution for tree maintenance in urban areas. Thanks to its range of up to 9.6 m and a lifting capacity of 15–18 tonne-metres, the trees can be easily pruned using the boom tip mounted gripper saw. And thanks to the remote-controlled truck, which communicates with the cab via a radio connection, drivers no longer have to keep getting in and out of the crane, allowing them to carry out their work more effectively, safely and quickly.

With the S110F101, Kettwiger Baumdienst Skibba GmbH has the perfect solution for off-road applications. Mounted on an Albach Diamant, the S110F101 – which has a maximum reach of 10.1 m and a lifting capacity of 11–12 tonne-metres – is ideal for forestry work.

As a result, the company is well-equipped to perform all tree maintenance work – whether in urban and rural areas or in woodland and forests.
